Luxury Without Breaking the Bank: Las Verandas Roatan

Just a short 20 minute drive from the airport to the luxurious Pristine Bay lies Las Verandas. You can opt for a taxi or rent a car like I did. Upon arrival I know this was an experience I won’t forget as I drove through the double gates. To get to this hotel you must pass by beautiful mansions in the hills that make you think “goals”. At the top was this beautiful resort with perfectly planted palm trees screaming “Welcome to your getaway”.

The Property

The vibes are posh, luxe, “I have arrived to live my best life”. This property is huge and fits every budget. Rooms start at $150 and goes all the way to $595 a night for a full 2 bedroom villa that sleeps 4. A complete steal!

Usually you would have to dish out a fortune for infinity pool views, that’s why I say this place is definitely the most bang for your buck and I encourage everyone to step out their comfort zone for a bit. The property has 2 public pools and the villas have their private plunge pool. For further unwinding, you can relax in their lounges on the property or their private beach. You can also book one of their spa services offered through La Piña Spa and Wellness Center which can even be done in the comfort of your own room. Las Verandas knows that you are here to relax so they can take care of booking your excursions for you, such as snorkeling, kayaking, zip lining and more!

The Rooms

The property has multiple options for accommodations. There are two bedroom villas as well as four and even five bedroom villas each having their own plunge pool. There are also hotel rooms that do not have a plunge pool but you still get good views and the two infinity pools are just a few steps away. So there are accommodation types for all sizes and all budgets. Rooms start at around $160 per night and villas start at around $450 per night and they sleep up to five people depending on the size chosen..

We stayed in the lower level of a two bedroom villa which gave us access to the private plunge pool right out of our door. It was spacious with a king size bed and lots of closet space. The bathroom was huge and the double sink was necessary for me who carry a lot of toiletries. The shower and toilet were in separate nooks which I thought was cute and offered much privacy should anyone need to step in.

The Food

The property was amazing and the food was nothing short of that. Succulent lobster, fresh fish, and all the monkey lala (traditional drink), there wasn’t a meal that lacked anything. I love the breakfast varieties where you can choose something small like a croissant sandwich or a large portion like egg benedict and homefries. For lunch we ate at the pool bar which had amazing daiquiris and great food. I tried the chicken salad their fried shrimp the next day. The portions are so large that I pushed dinner back to a later time.

Dinner was served in their restaurant, I recommend dining indoor because the bugs come out at night. Both nights I had lobster, the first being a seafood platter that was finger licking good with calamari, shrimp and fish. The next night I had surf and turf. As you can see, the portions are so large that you may not have room for dessert.

I am already thinking about how I can get back to Roatan and whether or not I should make it a group trip. Las Verandas made my time exceptional well and very hospitable. Is this somewhere you would stay?
